Apify ratings across review platforms
Apify scores, platform by platform
Every score is shown with the sample size it came from, on the scale that platform actually publishes. Bars fill against that platform’s own scale, so they are not comparable across a 5 and a 10 without reading the number beside them.
Scores are shown as each platform published them, last confirmed August 2026. Counts are floored to what could be confirmed at that check, so the platforms may show more.

What reviewers praise
- Reviewers repeatedly say the pre-built Actor marketplace is the main reason they chose Apify, describing finding a ready-made scraper for a target site and having it running in under half an hour instead of building one.
- Reviewers consistently credit the managed infrastructure, with proxies, scheduling, retries, storage and cloud execution bundled together, for removing server and proxy maintenance they used to carry themselves.
- Reviewers frequently mention the API and integrations, naming n8n, Make, Zapier and Google Sheets, as what lets Apify slot into an existing workflow rather than become another tool to babysit.
- Reviewers repeatedly report large time savings, with recurring claims of roughly 70 to 80 percent less time spent on collection tasks that previously ran for hours.
- Reviewers commonly describe support as responsive and knowledgeable on setup and configuration questions, with several saying the team stayed engaged until the issue closed.
What reviewers criticize
- Reviewers overwhelmingly name pricing predictability as the biggest problem, describing platform compute units plus per-actor or per-result fees that make a job's cost hard to estimate before running it.
- Reviewers repeatedly complain about being billed for runs that fail or return nothing, which bites hardest in exactly the windows when a target site has changed and the actor is broken.
- Reviewers consistently flag uneven quality across the community-built Actor marketplace: some actors are excellent, others are abandoned, thinly documented, or break as soon as the target changes its page structure.
- Reviewers regularly describe a real learning curve on advanced features and call the dashboard cluttered, with too many concepts competing for attention on arrival.
- A recurring minority say support quality drops off on deeper technical bugs, reporting slow responses and issues left open for months. This is the main theme in the 3-star and 1-star reviews.
Reading the reviews honestly
Apify is well reviewed by the buyers who write reviews, and the distribution is unusually clean rather than merely high: of the 538 reviews in the Gartner Digital Markets pool, 463 are 5-star and one is 1-star. Read that with two caveats. It is one pool, not three, even though it appears on Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice under three brands. And the recurring complaints that do appear, cost predictability and uneven marketplace quality, cluster in exactly the areas a star average is worst at capturing. The sub-scores say the same thing more quietly: Features 4.8 and Ease of Use 4.7, against Value for Money 4.6 and Customer Support 4.6.
Apify fits when
Technical teams that need many different scrapers across many sites and want infrastructure, proxies and scheduling handled for them, and who can absorb a variable monthly bill in exchange for that breadth.
Look elsewhere when
You need a fixed, predictable cost per record for budgeting or resale, or one social data feed with a contractual freshness guarantee, or the people running it will not debug a broken actor.
Notes on these figures
- Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice are all Gartner Digital Markets properties sharing one review pool. All three showed 4.8/5 on the same 538 reviews with the same breakdown (463 five-star, 69 four-star, 5 three-star, 0 two-star, 1 one-star). We publish it once, as one source.
- No G2 or Trustpilot figure is listed. Both block automated reads (G2 behind DataDome and Cloudflare, Trustpilot behind an AWS WAF challenge) and returned HTTP 403 on every route tried, so neither headline number could be seen rather than inferred. Search snippets suggested roughly 4.7 and 4.8, but we do not publish numbers we have not read.
- Gartner-network pages disclose that some reviews in their pool are collected with a nominal incentive for the reviewer's time. That is standard across the network rather than specific to Apify, and it applies to the 4.8 shown here.
- Product Hunt shows 5.0 from 8 reviews. That is too small to carry any weight and is excluded rather than used to pad the list.
Apify reviews FAQ
Is Apify's 4.8 rating trustworthy given how high it is?
The sample is large and the shape is healthy: 538 reviews with 463 at five stars and a single one-star. The caveat worth knowing is that Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice are one Gartner Digital Markets pool, so a list of three platforms is really one sample. We could not verify G2 or Trustpilot at all, because both block automated reads, so this page reports the one pool we could actually read.
What is the most common complaint about Apify?
Cost predictability, by a wide margin. Reviewers describe platform compute units plus per-actor or per-result fees, and repeatedly report that a misconfigured job or heavy proxy use spikes the bill with no warning. Being charged for runs that fail or return nothing is the sharpest version of it.
How reliable are Apify's social media scrapers specifically?
Reviewers say it depends heavily on which actor you pick, because most are built and maintained by third-party publishers rather than by Apify. The recurring pattern is that an actor works until the target platform changes its page structure, then breaks until its publisher updates it. Reviewers name Instagram and TikTok as the hardest targets.
Do reviewers say Apify needs coding skills?
Reviewers say you can run a pre-built actor without writing code, and many describe doing exactly that in under half an hour. They also consistently report a real learning curve for anything past that: actor configuration, debugging failed runs, and understanding the compute unit model.
What do reviewers say about Apify's support?
Most describe it as responsive and knowledgeable on setup and configuration. A recurring minority, concentrated in the 3-star and 1-star reviews, say responses slow badly on deeper technical bugs, with some issues left open for months. The pool's customer support sub-score is 4.6, the joint lowest of its four.
