7 providers compared
Phone validation API pricing in 2026 runs from about $0.40 to $11 per 1,000 lookups at published rates. Twilio Lookup charges $8 per 1,000 for line type (with each extra signal billed separately), while Telesign is $11 per 1,000 flat, and credit-pack vendors like Veriphone drop to $2.40 per 1,000 at 10K volume. This calculator compares the verified numbers at your volume.
How many lookups do you need?
At 10,000 lookups, the cheapest published option is Veriphone at $24 (one-time credits). Prices verified July 2026 against each vendor's live pricing page.

| Provider | What a unit buys | Free tier | Credit expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 credit = 1 full lookup: validation, carrier, line type, plus HLR reachability and spam options, with no per-signal stacking | Free single lookups at 1lookup.io/tools, no account required | Monthly credits roll over for 3 months | |
| Priced per data package; Line Type Intelligence shown here; line status, caller name and SIM swap are each billed separately on the same number | Basic formatting/validation lookups are free | Metered from account balance | |
| Phone ID at the flat $0.011 list rate; subscriber name/address append is $0.10 and risk scoring $0.15 per transaction | One-time trial credits, no card required | Metered pay-as-you-go | |
| Format/carrier/line-type validation from numbering-plan data; no live HLR reachability advertised | 100 requests/mo, no time limit | Monthly quota resets each billing month | |
| Standard validation (1 credit); a live current-carrier lookup draws 10 credits when a result is returned | 1,000 credits/mo, recurring | PAYG credits never expire; plan credits reset monthly | |
| A lookup is any request to its fraud platform (proxy detection, email, phone, device fingerprinting share one pool) | 1,000 lookups/mo (max 35/day) | Monthly plan allowance | |
| Separate per-API subscription for phone validation, sold at fixed monthly volume points | 100 phone validations/mo | Unused plan volume resets each billing period |
One balance for phone, email and IP. Every 1Lookup credit runs any lookup type, with no separate subscriptions per channel, and unused monthly credits roll over for 3 months.
How these prices were verified, and what a "lookup" means
Every number was read from the vendor's live pricing page in July 2026 and independently re-checked before publishing. Where a volume point isn't published (IPQualityScore above 75,000 lookups a month, for example), the calculator says so rather than estimating.
Phone lookups are not one product. Basic validation checks a number's format and numbering-plan data. Line type and carrier identification go further, and live HLR reachability, whether the SIM is actually active right now, is a different network query again. Per-signal vendors (Twilio, Telesign) charge separately for each layer on the same number, while credit vendors bundle differently: Veriphone's live current-carrier check draws 10 credits, and 1Lookup returns the full report on one credit. Compare rows with that scope in mind; the table under the chart spells out what each unit buys.

Phone lookup API pricing FAQ
How much does Twilio Lookup cost?
Twilio Lookup's basic formatting and validation queries are free. Paid data packages are billed per request: Line Type Intelligence costs $0.008 per lookup ($80 per 10,000), Caller Name is $0.01 (US only), Line Status is $0.007 at the entry tier, and Identity Match is $0.10. Costs stack because each signal on the same number is a separate per-request fee, so line type plus caller name on one number is $0.018, not $0.008.
How much does Telesign cost?
Telesign Phone ID costs $0.011 per lookup at the published list rate ($110 per 10,000 or $1,100 per 100,000), flat across all 233 covered countries, with volume discounts negotiated through sales. Premium data costs more: Phone ID Contact (subscriber name and address) is $0.10 per transaction and Intelligence risk scoring is $0.15. There are no monthly fees or contracts.
How much does Numverify cost?
Numverify sells monthly subscription quotas: $14.99/month for 5,000 API requests, $59.99/month for 50,000, and $129.99/month for 250,000, as low as $0.52 per 1,000 at full quota. The free plan includes 100 requests a month with no time limit. Note that Numverify validates against numbering-plan data; it doesn't advertise live HLR reachability checks.
What is the cheapest phone validation API?
At published July 2026 rates, Veriphone is the cheapest for basic validation: $24 one-time for 10,000 lookups, down to $0.40 per 1,000 at the 1M pack. Numverify's $59.99/month plan is the cheapest subscription at mid volume. But scope differs: basic validation checks format and numbering-plan data, while live carrier, HLR reachability, and spam scoring either cost extra credits (Veriphone charges 10 credits for a live carrier hit) or aren't offered.
Why do phone lookup costs stack on some providers?
Per-signal pricing means each piece of data is a separate billable request. On Twilio Lookup, checking line type ($0.008), line status ($0.007), and caller name ($0.01) on the same number costs $0.025 total. Bundled-credit providers work differently: 1Lookup returns validation, carrier, line type, and optional HLR reachability and spam scoring on a single credit, so the per-number cost doesn't grow with each signal you read.
What does 1Lookup phone validation cost?
1Lookup plans start at $99/month for 20,000 universal credits ($4.95 per 1,000) and scale to $1,999/month for 1,000,000 credits ($2.00 per 1,000). One credit buys a full phone lookup (validation, carrier, line type, with HLR reachability and spam scoring available), and the same credits also run email verification and IP lookups. Unused monthly credits roll over for 3 months.
