These 35 carrier names show up on US phone lookups, and each page explains one.

A phone lookup names the company that holds a number on the phone network, and that is often a legal or wholesale name you have never seen on a bill. Each page below says what the company is, why a lookup shows it, and where it holds numbers, from NANPA's file of the 198,436 assigned US prefixes.

Of these names, New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC holds the most US prefixes, 18,705.

A prefix is the three digits after the area code. A pooled prefix shares blocks of 1,000 numbers with other carriers and any number can have been ported, so these counts show who holds prefixes, not who serves one number.
