Twilio Lookup

Twilio Lookup Pricing,Package by Package.

Twilio does not sell “a lookup”. Formatting and validation are free, and every useful signal after that is a separate per-request package that stacks on the same number: line type at $0.008, line status from $0.007, caller name at $0.01, identity match at $0.10. Full rate card below, read off Twilio’s own pricing page on 18 August 2026.

1Lookup prices one credit per lookup, $0.00495 on the entry plan down to about $0.002 at the top, and returns line type, carrier, reachability and a fraud score on that one call. Which is cheaper depends entirely on how many packages you would have stacked, so the rate card comes before the pitch.

What Twilio Lookup costs

Pay as you go against your Twilio account balance, with no subscription and no minimum. The catch is not the unit price, it is that the packages are independent: asking one number for its line type, its live status and its caller name bills three times.

Working out your own number

The honest way to compare is to count the packages you would actually call. Run a number through the free carrier lookup and the free HLR lookup to see which fields you care about, then put your monthly volume through the phone validation cost calculator and check it against 1Lookup’s per-credit rates. If you are also pricing a broader contact-data suite rather than a phone API, we published the same kind of rate card for Melissa, whose credit model charges 10 credits for a live phone check.

Twilio Lookup vs 1Lookup FAQ

Common questions about Twilio Lookup and switching to 1Lookup

What is Twilio Lookup?

Twilio Lookup is a phone number validation and intelligence API from Twilio. It confirms that a number is correctly formatted and returns it in standardized E.164 and national formats, and it can enrich that number with premium data packages such as line type intelligence, caller name, SIM swap, call forwarding, and SMS pumping risk. Developers typically use it to clean phone lists, route messages correctly, and reduce fraud before sending SMS or placing calls.

How much does Twilio Lookup cost?

Twilio Lookup is pay as you go against your Twilio balance, with no subscription and no minimum. Formatting and validation are free. After that you pay per data package: line type intelligence $0.008 per request, line status from $0.007 per query down to $0.00385 above 10 million, inbound caller identification $0.01 per request (US only), identity match $0.10 per request with prices varying by country, and reassigned number risk from $0.02 down to $0.0015 across eight volume tiers. SMS Pumping Risk Score is free for North American numbers and $0.025 per request elsewhere, and SIM swap and call forwarding are contact sales with no published price. The packages are independent, so asking one number for its line type, its live status and its caller name bills three times. Prices read from twilio.com/en-us/lookup/pricing on 18 August 2026.

What is the best Twilio Lookup alternative?

The best alternative depends on what you actually need to verify. If you only validate phone numbers, several APIs compete on price and country coverage; if you also verify emails and IP addresses, 1Lookup is a strong option because it handles phone, email, and IP validation through a single API and one universal credit system. It also offers carrier and HLR lookup, reverse lookup, and fraud and IP intelligence, plus a free trial so you can test it against your own data before switching.

How is 1Lookup different from Twilio Lookup?

Twilio Lookup is centered on phone number data, while 1Lookup unifies phone, email, and IP verification in one API that draws on a single, shared credit pool. 1Lookup draws its underlying data from FCC and carrier sources, and it adds carrier/HLR lookup, reverse lookup, and fraud and IP intelligence within the same platform. For teams that would rather use one vendor and one credit balance across multiple verification types, that consolidation is the main practical difference.

Can I try 1Lookup for free?

Yes. 1Lookup offers a 7-day free trial so you can validate your own phone numbers, emails, and IP addresses before committing to a plan. This lets you compare coverage and data quality against Twilio Lookup on real records rather than sample inputs.

Is Twilio Lookup worth it in 2026?

Twilio Lookup is worth it for teams already building on Twilio: basic formatting and validation lookups are free, SMS Pumping Risk Score is free for North American numbers, and you pay only for the intelligence packages you request, like Line Type Intelligence at $0.008 per request. The catch is how charges accumulate: each signal (line type, line status, caller name, identity match) is a separate per-request fee on the same number, and key packages are geographically restricted, with Caller Name US-only and Call Forwarding UK-only. SIM swap and call forwarding pricing is not self-serve and requires contacting sales. It is also phone-only, so teams that verify emails and IPs too often prefer a multi-channel per-lookup API like 1Lookup with one balance across all three.

One credit instead of three packages

If all you need is a format check, Twilio does it for nothing and you should use Twilio. If you need line type, reachability and a fraud signal on the same number, those are three separately billed Twilio packages and one 1Lookup credit.

Twilio Lookup’s tier bars all start at $0 on one linear scale, so among them a longer bar always means a higher published price. 1Lookup is drawn differently: it is a range band covering its cheapest to its dearest plan, so read where it sits on the scale, not how long it is. Twilio Lookup’s tiers and 1Lookup’s plans cover different volumes, use different pricing models, and do not bill for the same unit of work, so this is not a like-for-like race: check the rate at the volume you actually run. Twilio Lookup figures verified July 2026 against twilio.com; 1Lookup figures come from its live rate card.

The same month, priced both ways

Pick one of Twilio Lookup’s own published volumes. Their figure is their published price at that tier; ours is the cheapest plan on our rate card that covers it. Nothing here is interpolated.

10,000

1Lookup

$99/mo

The Starter plan, 20,000 credits a month at $4.95 per 1,000. Using 10,000 of them is 50% of the plan, so $9.90 per 1,000 effective.

Twilio Lookup

$80

Their published price for “10,000 Line Type Intelligence lookups”, at $8 per 1,000.

At 10,000 a month, Twilio Lookup is $19 cheaper. Our smallest plan that covers this volume includes 20,000 credits, so the gap closes as you use more of it.

API access

Included on every plan and during the free trial; there is no tier that unlocks it

API access is the product and is self-service on a free trial account ('no credit card required to start').

Individual data packages are gated: Line Type Intelligence, Caller Name, SMS Pumping Risk and Line Status are self-service; SIM Swap and Call Forwarding are Private Beta requiring carrier approvals and a sales conversation; Identity Match and Reassigned Number require an access-request form.

Rate limit

1,000 requests per minute on standard accounts, with higher limits available on request

Uptime SLA

99.95% Monthly API Availability Percentage Threshold for the Services APIs, with a 10% service credit when missed.

99.99% applies only to customers holding Twilio Enterprise Edition (or Administration Edition purchased before 24 October 2024). Enterprise Edition itself describes this as '99.99% SLA Increase your SLA coverage from 99.95% to 99.99%'.

Compliance

The Trust Center names ISO/IEC 27001 and states there are 'regular external audits'.

HIPAA is not general: 'HIPAA Accounts Build HIPAA compliant workflows' is listed as an Enterprise Edition feature. GDPR and CCPA are described as product capabilities rather than certifications. SOC 2 is not named on the pages that loaded; security and privacy documents must be requested.

Support

Starter: Email Support; Growth: Priority Email & Chat Support; Professional: Chat + Live Meeting; Enterprise: Dedicated CSM

Support is a paid add-on.

Developer is free, web support only, 'Not eligible for guaranteed response time'. Production is 'Greater of $250 minimum or 4% of monthly spend' with phone, live chat, web and 3 business hour critical response. Business is 'Greater of $1,500 minimum or 6% of monthly spend' with a technical account manager and 1 hour 24/7 critical response. Personalized is 'Greater of $5,000 minimum or 8% of monthly spend'.

Twilio Lookup fine print worth reading twice

Published terms that change what Twilio Lookup costs or what you can do with it. Each one links to the Twilio Lookup page it was read on, because a claim about somebody else’s contract should be checkable in one click.

  • Any guaranteed support response time is a paid add-on priced at the greater of a $250 monthly minimum or 4% of monthly spend for the Production plan, rising to $1,500 or 6% for Business and $5,000 or 8% for Personalized.

  • The standard uptime commitment is 99.95%; the 99.99% threshold applies only to customers who hold Twilio Enterprise Edition, which is quote-only.

What you actually work in

Twilio Lookup is a a screenshot of the Lookup web app: country-flag phone number input, checkboxes for the data packages (Validation and Formatting [free], Line Type Intelligence, Caller Name, SMS Pumping Risk, SIM Swap, Call Forwarding, Line Status), a Lookup button, and the JSON response body rendered below product you log into. 1Lookup is an API and a dashboard you mostly do not log into: you call it from the system that already has the record. Which of those you want is usually the whole decision, so here is theirs.

Twilio Lookup logoWhere Twilio Lookup wins

  • Free unlimited basic formatting/validation lookups, and SMS Pumping Risk Score is free for North American numbers
  • Modular a-la-carte data packages (line type, line status, SIM swap, call forwarding, identity match, reassigned number, caller name) - you pay only for the signals you request
  • Deep fraud/identity signal set beyond simple validation: SIM swap detection, SMS pumping risk scoring, reassigned-number checks, identity match against authoritative sources
  • Part of the Twilio ecosystem (Verify, SMS, Voice) at large scale - Twilio cites 5.1B+ user validations per year - so lookups integrate directly into existing messaging/2FA flows

Who this is for

A quick, honest read on which tool fits your use case.

Choose 1Lookup if: you want phone, email, and IP validation together under one universal credit system, rather than phone data alone billed per add-on package.

Consider Twilio Lookup instead if: your team is already building on Twilio and wants phone intelligence inside that existing platform and billing.
