Modash Alternative: Ask About Accounts You Already Know
Modash's core asset is a large indexed set of creator profiles you can filter down by audience and performance criteria. That is a different job from answering a question about a handle you already have, and the two are worth telling apart before you buy either.
Modash is a discovery product: its value is the size of its creator index and the filters you can run across it to find people you have never heard of. 1Lookup is a lookup product: you supply the handle, URL or advertiser name and it returns that entity's current public data. Discovery finds candidates; lookup answers questions about named ones.
Discovery and lookup are not the same purchase
Where the jobs genuinely overlap, here is the endpoint that does it and what a call costs.

Pulling a named creator's profile metrics
Social Profile Check API
Ten networks through one endpoint: followers, following, posts, verified, private and business flags, bio and link in bio.
10 credits per matched profile

Keyword-led search for creators and content
Social Search API
A page of matching public profiles and content for a keyword on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest or Reddit. One page, not an exhaustive index, and we say so.
5 credits per search with results

Verifying what a creator actually posted for you
Social Post Lookup API
The live caption, author, likes, comments, shares, views and date behind a post URL, for checking delivery against the brief.
5 credits per matched post

Mapping everything a creator links to
Link-in-Bio Lookup API
Their Linktree, Komi, Pillar, Lnk.bio or Linkme page expanded into every destination on it, at the cheapest per-call price in our catalogue.
3 credits per matched page
1Lookup vs Modash: the same criteria, side by side
Both products measured on identical criteria, with Modash’s numbers taken from its own published pricing.
| Criteria | ||
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Monthly plans with universal credits; core phone, email and IP lookups cost 1 credit, enrichment and intelligence products cost more | A monthly SaaS platform subscription priced by seats, profile opens and email unlocks, plus two separately sold APIs (Raw and Discovery) on annual commitments with published per-unit rates |
| Starting price | $99/mo for 20,000 credits ($4.95 per 1,000, down to $2.00 on Enterprise) | SaaS platform: $199/month (Essentials, shown reduced from $299) for 2 seats, 300 profile opens and 150 email unlocks a month. The APIs are priced separately and are not included: Raw API starts at $10,000/year for 40,000 requests/month ($0.02 per request); Discovery API starts at $16,200/year for 3,000 credits/month ($0.45 per credit) |
| Free option | Free single lookups via the online tools at 1lookup.io/tools, no account required | None |
| Free trial | 7-day free trial on every plan: $5 of credits on Starter, $20 on Growth, Professional, and Enterprise (card required, nothing charged up front) | None published |
| Do credits expire? | Unused monthly credits roll over for 3 months; separately purchased credits last 1 year | Unused Discovery API credits roll over, but their FAQ conditions this on the contract being active. Whether unused Raw API requests or SaaS profile opens roll over is not addressed anywhere published |

If your list of creators already exists, compare per-lookup cost. If it does not, you are shopping for discovery, and this is the wrong comparison to make.
Where Modash wins
- Publishes real API prices in public, which is rare in this category: exact annual entry points, exact per-unit rates and a published second tier with better rates, where most competitors show only Contact sales
- Genuinely deep audience intelligence over a 380M+ creator database: audience location, age brackets, gender split, languages, interests, ethnicities, notable followers, credibility scoring, audience overlap and lookalike matching
- Per-endpoint credit pricing keeps high-volume discovery far cheaper than the headline rate implies: search costs 0.01 credits, search-by-email 0.02 per matched result, AI search 0.025 per result, with full influencer and audience reports at 1 credit each
- Billing mechanics are stated plainly and favour the buyer: unused Discovery credits roll over while the contract is active, and they state they do not charge for failed requests
- A complete product rather than a bare API, adding creator tracking, campaign monitoring, creator payments, affiliate management and a Shopify integration, with an account manager on every API plan
Where 1Lookup wins
- Direct answers about handles, URLs and advertisers you already have, without buying an index
- Video transcripts and public ad-library search, which creator-discovery suites rarely include
- Per-lookup pricing that scales down as cleanly as it scales up
- Live fetch at call time rather than the age of a crawl
- One credit balance across social, phone, email and IP products

Who this is for
A quick, honest read on which tool fits your use case.
Choose 1Lookup if: you already know which creators you are asking about, and you want their live public data returned per call rather than access to a searchable index.
Consider Modash instead if: discovery is the job: you need to filter a large indexed creator set by audience and performance criteria to find people you have not heard of.
Frequently asked questions
Does Modash have an API?
Modash has published developer access to its creator data alongside its main application. The verified table on this page records what we could confirm about their pricing and terms from their live site, with sources and a check date, and marks anything we could not confirm rather than filling the gap with a guess.
Can 1Lookup find creators I have never heard of?
To a point. Social Search takes a keyword and returns one page of matching public profiles and content on six networks. That is useful for building a candidate list and genuinely not the same as filtering millions of indexed profiles by audience criteria. If deep discovery is the job, a discovery product is the right purchase.
Which is cheaper for checking 500 creators?
It depends entirely on whether you already have the 500 handles. If you do, per-lookup pricing is straightforward arithmetic: 500 profile checks at 10 credits each, with unmatched handles free. If you need to find the 500 first, you are buying discovery, and that is not a cost per lookup at all.
Do you filter creators by audience location?
Not as a search filter. You can pull the follower-country split for a TikTok handle you already have, at 40 credits per handle, and filter your own list on the result. Filtering an index by audience country before you know who the creators are is a discovery feature we do not have.
Can I get transcripts of what creators said in videos?
Yes, and it is the endpoint least likely to have an equivalent in a discovery suite. Send a video URL from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook, LinkedIn or Reddit and get the spoken transcript, word count and detected language back. Useful for checking whether a paid mention was actually said out loud.
How many platforms does each cover?
Modash covers Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, which their own API page and docs both state. 1Lookup covers those three plus X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Truth Social, Pinterest and LinkedIn for profile lookups. If your creators are on the big three, that difference costs you nothing; if you work with B2B or news creators, it decides the question.
How current is the data?
Every lookup fetches the public page when you call it, and repeats on the same input inside seven days come from cache. An index, by contrast, is as current as its last crawl of that profile, which is a design choice with real advantages for search and real lag for vetting.
