Omnipoint Communications is an old name for part of T-Mobile's mobile network.

Omnipoint ran one of the first GSM mobile networks in the US, starting in the New York area. VoiceStream Wireless bought Omnipoint in 2000, and VoiceStream became T-Mobile USA in 2002, so Omnipoint prefixes are T-Mobile's today. NANPA, which runs the North American numbering plan, lists Omnipoint as the holder of 4,885 prefixes in 20 states and territories, 2.5% of the 198,436 prefixes it has assigned.

You can check which carrier a number is on today, for free.

Enter the full number to see its carrier now, which may not be Omnipoint if the number was ported. It is the same free check as our carrier lookup. To see whether it is a mobile, landline or VoIP line, use the line type lookup, and to see who it is listed to, the who called me lookup.

A lookup shows Omnipoint when the number is on T-Mobile's mobile network.

Carrier records use a company's legal or historic name, so a lookup can show Omnipoint Communications while the person's bill says T-Mobile.

Numbers can also move between carriers, so a lookup reads the number's carrier today, and a number with an Omnipoint prefix can show another company if it was ported.

Omnipoint holds the most prefixes in New York: 1,279 of its 4,885.
