At a glance

Here is where 1Lookup wins against EODHD, and where EODHD still wins.

Both can answer what a public company reported on its 8-Ks. EODHD's SEC Filings API returns each 8-K with its item codes, the parsed text of every item and its exhibits, for 4,500+ US companies, inside a data plan that also carries prices and fundamentals. 1Lookup takes a ticker, a company name or a CIK number and returns the last 12 months of that company's 8-Ks already labeled in plain words, with a category, a high-signal flag and a link to each filing on the SEC's site, from one shared credit balance and with no market-data plan to buy.

1Lookup logo1lookupWhere 1Lookup wins
  • Item numbers become plain words with a headline, one of eight categories and a high-signal flag on twelve kinds of item, where EODHD returns the item codes, titles and text for you to read
  • A ticker, a company name or a CIK number all work, and a name that fits several companies comes back as candidates at no charge, where EODHD's documented input is a US-listed ticker
  • A company that filed no 8-K, a name nobody registered and an SEC outage cost nothing, and a CSV with a company column returns one row per company
  • No market-data plan to buy and no API calls to count, and the same key and balance also pay for phone, email and IP validation

What it costs

From $4.00

per 1,000 event lookups; $9.90 on Starter

EODHD logoWhere EODHD wins
  • The 8-K endpoint returns the filing's text, not only its labels: each 8-K lists its item codes, a parsed item_sections array with the item, its title and its text, and the attached exhibits with their numbers and descriptions.
  • Depth: the documentation lists 526,000+ 8-K filings for 4,500+ companies, from 1994 to the present, refreshed daily, with 10-K and 10-Q reports on the same API.
  • It sits inside a wider data plan: the All-In-One plan includes end-of-day, intraday and live prices, fundamentals, insider trades, congressional trades, a corporate calendar and economic data, with SDKs and an MCP server on every plan.
  • A flat monthly price with a high ceiling: 100,000 API calls a day and 1,000 requests a minute on the paid plans, no price per request.
  • A demo token lets a developer try the 8-K endpoint on AAPL.US, TSLA.US and AMZN.US before paying.

Short answer

EODHD sells market data on flat monthly plans, and its SEC Filings API, with the 8-K endpoint, is in the All-In-One plan at $99.99 a month and in the commercial plans from $399 a month, at 10 API calls a request. 1Lookup's 8-K Event Lookup returns a company's 8-Ks of the last 12 months, labeled by event, for 2 credits, about $0.010 on Starter, charged only when the company filed an 8-K.

A real result

This is what one 1Lookup result looks like.

  1. Send a ticker, a CIK number or a name

POST one of the three, and add days if you want a window other than 12 months. A CIK number is 1 to 10 digits. A malformed CIK number, a window outside 30 to 730 days or an empty request is refused with a clear error and costs nothing.

  2. We read the company's 8-K filings

A ticker or a name is matched to a CIK number in the SEC's list of registered companies, then the company's filing list is read and every 8-K and 8-K/A in the window is kept. Each item number becomes a plain label and a category.

  3. Get the events, flat and structured

The filings, the counts and the verdict arrive in one JSON payload, newest first. A company with at least one 8-K bills 2 credits, and one without any bills nothing.

The evidence

Here is the evidence behind every number on this page.

Here are EODHD and 1Lookup side by side on the terms you check before you sign.

The terms that decide what a year actually costs, rather than what the first month does. “Not listed” means we could not verify it on either product’s published pages, not that the answer is nothing.

Term1LookupEODHD
Minimum commitment

None. Monthly plans with no contract and no minimum volume; cancel any time

'No long-term commitments, just a minimum of one month.' Paying annually saves 2 months.

Going over your quotaNot listed

The daily allowance resets at midnight GMT.

The page says to 'Raise your daily limit or buy an extra-calls buffer in the dashboard'; additional API calls are 'By request' on paid plans and 'Upgrade' on the free plan, and no price is printed.

API access

Included on every plan and during the free trial; there is no tier that unlocks it

The SEC Filings API is available on the All-In-One plan and on the commercial plans.

A 403 response means the plan does not include SEC filings access.

Rate limit

200 requests per 10 seconds for each API key on standard lookups and 1,000 requests a minute for each key on number type, HLR and MNP, and each account can make up to 1,000 requests a minute in total across all its keys; higher limits are available on request

Free Sandbox: 20 API calls a day and 20 requests a minute.

Paid plans: 100,000 API calls a day and 1,000 requests a minute. Commercial Enterprise: unlimited calls a day at 1,000 requests a minute. An SEC filings request consumes 10 calls.

Who it is for

Pick 1Lookup or stay with EODHD depending on the job in front of you.

1Lookup logo1lookup

Choose 1Lookup if

you start from a ticker, a company name or a CIK number and want a finished list of the last 12 months of 8-Ks with plain-English labels and a high-signal flag, without buying a market-data plan first.

EODHD logoEODHD

Consider EODHD instead if

you also need prices, fundamentals and the text of each 8-K item in the same feed: EODHD's All-In-One plan includes the SEC filings API with the parsed text of every item section and the exhibits, 8-Ks for 4,500+ companies back to 1994, and 100,000 API calls a day.

Questions

People ask these questions before they switch from EODHD.

What is EODHD used for?

Market and company data through one API. The All-In-One plan includes end-of-day, intraday and live prices, fundamentals, insider and congressional trades, a corporate calendar, economic data and the SEC Filings API for 8-K, 10-K and 10-Q reports, with SDKs and an MCP server on every plan.

How does EODHD pricing work?

Checked October 2026, in US dollars: the free Sandbox is $0 for 20 API calls a day and has no SEC filings. All-In-One is $99.99 a month ($999.90 billed annually) for 100,000 API calls a day and 1,000 requests a minute, and the Commercial view starts at $399 a month for Internal use. The pricing page shows the visitor's own currency, so a visitor outside North America may see pounds for the same plans. The page says 'No long-term commitments, just a minimum of one month.' Each SEC filings request uses 10 of the plan's API calls.

How much does 1Lookup charge for the same lookup?

2 credits per company with an 8-K, free when no 8-K was filed in the last 12 months. On the Starter plan ($99 a month for 20,000 credits) a company is about $0.010, which covers 10,000 companies a month and is $9.90 per 1,000. At the Enterprise end of the rate card it is about $0.004. EODHD's All-In-One plan is $99.99 a month against $99 for a Starter month, and at high volume its flat plan is the cheaper bill per company, since 100,000 API calls a day at 10 calls a request is up to 10,000 SEC filings requests a day.

What does EODHD return for an 8-K, and what does 1Lookup return?

EODHD's 8-K endpoint returns each filing with its item codes, an item_sections array that holds each item's number, title and text, and the attached exhibits with their numbers and descriptions. It does not print an event category or an importance flag. 1Lookup returns a finished answer instead: each filing with its item numbers turned into plain labels (5.02 as an executive or director departure or appointment, 4.01 as a changed auditor), one of eight categories, a headline, a high-signal flag on twelve kinds of item, counts for the whole window and a link to the filing on the SEC's site. 1Lookup reads which items a filing carries, not the text under them.

Can EODHD look a company up by name or filter 8-Ks by date?

Not on the documentation page checked. The ticker goes in the path as in AAPL.US, and the other documented parameters are api_token, page[offset] and page[limit] (default 20, from 1 to 100). No date range or name search is listed, so a 12-month window is read by paging newest first. 1Lookup takes a ticker, a company name or a CIK number, and the API takes an optional days setting from 30 to 730 with 365 as the default.

Can I try EODHD's 8-K data before paying?

Partly. The free Sandbox has no SEC filings, but the documentation says a demo token works on the SEC filings API for AAPL.US, TSLA.US and AMZN.US, and the personal plans list 500 welcome bonus API calls. 1Lookup has a free 8-K filing search on its site that shows the count of 8-Ks in the last 12 months and the three newest events, and a 7-day free trial for the full list.

How current is each source?

EODHD's documentation says its 8-K data is refreshed daily. 1Lookup reads the SEC's own filing list for the company when you look it up. A repeat lookup of the same company by the same user within one day comes from the cache at no charge, and bypass_cache: true reads it again.

Where does EODHD beat 1Lookup?

On depth, text and bundle. The documentation lists 526,000+ 8-K filings for 4,500+ companies from 1994 to now, with the parsed text of every item and the exhibits, 10-K and 10-Q reports on the same API, and prices, fundamentals and insider trades on the same key. The flat plan also reaches up to 10,000 SEC filings requests a day, where a Starter month covers 10,000 companies with an 8-K. 1Lookup does not return the text of an item, looks back 12 months by default (up to 730 days in the API) and covers one company per lookup.

What is the best EODHD alternative?

If you need the text of every 8-K item, the exhibits and filings back to 1994 next to prices and fundamentals, EODHD's All-In-One plan is the product built for that. If you have a ticker, a name or a CIK number and want the company's last year of 8-Ks as labeled events with the important ones flagged, without buying a market-data plan, 1Lookup's 8-K Event Lookup bills 2 credits only when the company filed an 8-K.

Is EODHD worth it in 2026?

If you use the prices, fundamentals and filing text together, yes: $99.99 a month reaches all of them on one key, with a 100,000-call daily allowance. If all you need is which companies filed which kinds of 8-K, compare the per-company price of 1Lookup, which is charged only when an 8-K was filed, with a plan you would size for that one job.
