At a glance

Here is where 1Lookup wins against CallerAPI, and where CallerAPI still wins.

Both answer a phone number with how often it was reported. CallerAPI returns a total, a 0 to 100 spam score, a reputation label and the complaints one by one, with the reporter's comment, and adds business details and carrier data on request, on monthly plans sized in lookups. 1Lookup returns the FTC's counts as one finished answer: the number of reports, the recorded-message share, the subjects with their counts, a count for each month and the latest report date, billed per number with reports from a balance that also pays for phone, email and IP checks.

1Lookup logo1lookupWhere 1Lookup wins
  • The FTC is named as the source and every answer shows the day the count starts from, where CallerAPI's API reference names no source and no window
  • The count by month, the recorded-message share, the subjects with counts and the latest report date come back already added up, where CallerAPI returns the complaints for you to add up
  • A number with no reports, a number outside the US and Canada and a check 1Lookup cannot answer yet cost nothing, and a CSV with a phone column returns one row per number
  • The same key and balance also pay for phone, email and IP validation, and credits roll over for 3 months

What it costs

From $4.00

per 1,000 number lookups; $9.90 on Starter

CallerAPI logoWhere CallerAPI wins
  • A low printed price per lookup: $25 for 5,000 lookups is $5.00 per 1,000 (arithmetic on the printed plan), and the volume tiers fall to about $0.71 per 1,000 at 35,000,000.
  • One lookup returns the complaint count with the complaints themselves: each item carries the date created, the date of the violation, the consumer's state, the subject, whether it was a recorded message or robocall and the reporter's comment.
  • More than complaints in the same answer: a 0 to 100 spam score, a reputation label, an entity type, business details and, with the HLR option, the carrier, the number type, whether it is ported and the local routing number.
  • Large volumes are priced in public down to about $0.71 per 1,000, and call blocking and a spam database feed are available under direct agreements.

What it costs

$25 a month for 5,000 lookups (Basic)

Short answer

CallerAPI sells monthly plans sized in lookups: Basic is $25 a month for 5,000 lookups, Premium $99 for 20,000 and Enterprise tiers from $1,000 for about 300,000, which is $5.00 per 1,000 on Basic. 1Lookup's Reported Number Check costs 2 credits per number with reports, $9.90 per 1,000 on Starter, so CallerAPI is cheaper per lookup. 1Lookup adds up the months, the recorded-message share and the latest report date, and bills nothing for a number with no reports.

What replaces what

Here is which 1Lookup product matches each CallerAPI job.

CallerAPI counts one lookup against a monthly plan for each request. This is a different unit on 1Lookup: one phone number, billed in credits from a monthly balance only when the FTC's data holds a report for it, and nothing for a number with no reports, a number outside the US and Canada or a check that cannot be answered yet.

Side by side

Both products are measured on the same criteria, using CallerAPI's own published numbers.

Consider CallerAPI instead if

you want a lower price per lookup, from $5.00 per 1,000 on Basic down to about $0.71 at 35,000,000 a month, the reporters' own comments, a spam score, or carrier and HLR data in the same answer.

Questions

People ask these questions before they switch from CallerAPI.

What does CallerAPI return for a phone number?

A total_complaints figure, a spam_score from 0 to 100, a reputation label, an is_spam flag and an entity type, plus business details when it has them. The complaints come as a list, each item with the date created, the date of the violation, the consumer's state, the subject, whether it was a recorded message or robocall and the reporter's comment. An optional hlr parameter adds the carrier, the number type, whether the number is ported and the local routing number. Checked October 2026.

How does CallerAPI pricing work?

Monthly plans sized in lookups: Basic is $25 a month for 5,000 lookups, Premium $99 for 20,000, and Enterprise is $997 pay-per-use for 250,000 or more. Enterprise volume tiers run from $1,000 for about 300,000 lookups (about $3.33 per 1,000) to $25,000 for about 35,000,000 (about $0.71 per 1,000), and the page says exact terms are set in your agreement. The page lists no free plan. Checked October 2026.

How much does 1Lookup charge for a reported number check?

2 credits per number with reports, free when the number has no reports. On the Starter plan ($99 a month for 20,000 credits) a number is about $0.010, which covers 10,000 numbers a month and is $9.90 per 1,000. At the Enterprise end of the rate card it is about $0.004.

Is 1Lookup cheaper than CallerAPI per lookup?

No. CallerAPI Basic works out to $5.00 per 1,000 lookups and Premium to $4.95, against $9.90 per 1,000 on 1Lookup Starter and $4.00 on Enterprise. Those figures are arithmetic on the printed plans. 1Lookup bills only the numbers that have reports, and CallerAPI's plans are sized in lookups.

What does each one return?

CallerAPI returns the complaints one by one with the reporter's comment, a spam score, a reputation label and optional carrier data, and leaves any count by month or share of recorded messages to you. 1Lookup returns the FTC's counts finished: the number of reports, how many said a recorded message or robocall and their share, the subjects with counts, a count for each month, the latest report date, the day the count starts from and the day the data runs to. It returns no individual report and no comment.

Where do the numbers come from?

1Lookup names its source in every answer: the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Do Not Call reported calls data, with the day the count starts from. CallerAPI's API reference describes total_complaints as the total number of complaints recorded and names no source and no time window, so this page makes no claim about either. Both inherit the same caveat for reports of this kind: the FTC says none of the information about the reported calls is verified, and caller numbers can be spoofed.

Where does CallerAPI beat 1Lookup?

On price per lookup ($5.00 per 1,000 on Basic and about $0.71 at 35,000,000 a month), on detail (the reporter's comment on each complaint, a spam score and a reputation label) and on adjacent data: business details and, with the HLR option, carrier and number type in the same answer. It also sells call blocking and a spam database feed under direct agreements. 1Lookup returns counts for the FTC's reports only.

What happens when a number has no reports?

1Lookup bills nothing for a number the FTC data holds no report for. CallerAPI's plans count lookups, so a request is a lookup against the monthly quota.

What is the best CallerAPI alternative?

If you want the lowest price per lookup, a spam score, the reporters' own comments or carrier data in the same call, CallerAPI is the better fit. If you want the FTC's counts finished, with the months, the recorded-message share and the latest report date added up, and nothing billed for a number with no reports, 1Lookup's Reported Number Check bills 2 credits for every number with reports.

Is CallerAPI worth it in 2026?

Yes if you want a score and the complaint details with carrier data in one call at a low price per lookup; its entry plan is $25 a month. If you check a few thousand numbers a month and want the FTC's counts by month without adding them up, compare the per-number price of 1Lookup.
