Phyllo Alternative: Check Any Creator, Not Just Connected Ones
Phyllo built its creator API around consented connections: a creator authorises your app and you get access to data only they can see. That is a genuinely stronger dataset, and it only exists for creators who have said yes to you.
Phyllo's creator API is built around the creator connecting their own account, which unlocks data no outsider can see, such as private analytics. 1Lookup reads public profiles only, with no permission needed and no onboarding of the creator. The trade is depth against reach: consented data is richer, public data covers everyone.
What you can learn without asking the creator
Each row shows the consented-data capability and the public equivalent, with the honest limits of reading a public page.

10 credits per matched profile

Content and engagement records
Social Post Lookup API
Public engagement on a specific post URL: likes, comments, shares, views, caption, author and date.
5 credits per matched post

Audience demographics
TikTok Audience Demographics API
Follower countries for a TikTok handle, each with an ISO code and percentage share. Countries only: no age, no gender.
40 credits per matched handle

Creator contact and link discovery
Link-in-Bio Lookup API
Every destination on a creator's Linktree, Komi, Pillar, Lnk.bio or Linkme page, which is usually where the shop, newsletter and contact route live.

1Lookup vs Phyllo: the same criteria, side by side
Both products measured on identical criteria, with Phyllo’s numbers taken from its own published pricing.
| Criteria | ||
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Monthly plans with universal credits; core phone, email and IP lookups cost 1 credit, enrichment and intelligence products cost more | Monthly subscription priced by the number of monitored accounts rather than per API call, with a free tier and three publicly listed paid tiers, plus a quote-based custom tier above them |
| Starting price | $99/mo for 20,000 credits ($4.95 per 1,000, down to $2.00 on Enterprise) | $399/month (Startup) for up to 2,000 monitored accounts across the Identity, Engagement, Audience and Comments APIs, with dedicated chat support |
| Free option | Free single lookups via the online tools at 1lookup.io/tools, no account required | Free plan for up to 250 monitored accounts across the Identity, Engagement, Audience and Comments APIs, with a 6-business-hour support SLA. Their developer page states no credit card is required and API keys arrive in minutes |
| Free trial | 7-day free trial on every plan: $5 of credits on Starter, $20 on Growth, Professional, and Enterprise (card required, nothing charged up front) | No time-boxed trial is published. Instead there is a standing free account plus a sandbox with API keys and no card required; no duration or expiry is stated |
| Do credits expire? | Unused monthly credits roll over for 3 months; separately purchased credits last 1 year | Not published |

These are complements more often than substitutes. Price public lookups against the screening volume you run, not against the depth of a consented integration.
Where Phyllo wins
- Consented first-party data that public reading cannot reach: creators authorise through OAuth and Phyllo pulls from the source platform, surfacing post-login metrics, audience demographics and income data rather than estimates
- A genuine self-serve developer on-ramp, unusual for an enterprise social-data vendor: API keys with no demo and no credit card, and a publicly priced $399/month paid entry point
- Very wide platform coverage under one normalised schema, with a coverage page listing 27 platforms spanning social, commerce, publishing and audio, including long-tail sources most competitors skip
- An unusually broad product suite for one vendor, including identity, audience and engagement intelligence, content, income, comments, social listening and screening, video intelligence and write APIs for publishing
- A credible enterprise posture: a large creator index, a published uptime SLA and sub-second p95 response target, backed by SOC 2 and GDPR/CCPA compliance
Where 1Lookup wins
- Works on any public account with no creator onboarding, OAuth flow or consent screen
- Live at call time, so a screening list can be checked the day you build it
- Ten networks through one endpoint and one response shape
- Per-lookup pricing with no charge for handles that do not resolve
- The same credits also buy phone, email and IP validation

Who this is for
A quick, honest read on which tool fits your use case.
Choose 1Lookup if: you need to check creators who have no relationship with you yet, with no OAuth flow to build and no consent screen for them to accept.
Consider Phyllo instead if: you need the private metrics only the account holder can see, such as reach, impressions and story views, and your creators will connect their accounts to get them.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between consented and public creator data?
Consented data comes from the creator authorising your application, which can expose private analytics such as reach, impressions and audience breakdowns the platform shows only to the account holder. Public data is what any logged-out visitor sees. Consented is deeper and requires the creator to act; public is shallower and works on anyone immediately.
Can I vet a creator who has not signed up with me?
That is the case public data is for. You do not need the creator to do anything: send the handle and the platform and get their live public numbers back. It is why public-page lookups suit the vetting stage, before there is any relationship to ask a favour of.
Do you return impressions, reach or story views?
No, and no public-page reader can. Those metrics are visible only inside the account, which is exactly what a consented integration is for. If your product needs them, that is a strong reason to use a consent-based API, and no amount of public data substitutes.
How quickly can I start?
Immediately, because there is nothing to integrate on the creator's side. No OAuth flow to build, no connect screen to design, no waiting for creators to authorise. Add a card, generate a key, POST a handle. That is the practical advantage of the shallower dataset.
What audience data can you actually give me?
Follower countries with ISO codes and percentage shares, for TikTok handles only, at 40 credits each. That answers one specific question well: is this creator's audience where I sell. It does not answer age, gender, or interests, and we do not claim it does.
Can I use both?
Sensibly, yes, and plenty of teams should. Public lookups are cheap and work on everyone, which suits screening a long list. A consent-based integration is worth the build for the creators you actually sign, where the deeper numbers change decisions.
