Prospeo Alternative: Contact Data Per Lookup, Not Per Seat

Prospeo is a list-building tool first: dozens of filters across people and companies, a reveal step, and verified mobile numbers from the same pool. The metering behind it is genuinely fair. The question is whether you need the database at all, because it is priced per seat and every seat carries its own credits.

Prospeo is a per-seat B2B contact platform: filter people and companies across dozens of criteria, then spend credits to reveal a verified email or a mobile number, charged only when a valid result comes back. 1Lookup sells the reveal half as individual API calls on one shared credit balance, starting with LinkedIn Email Finder at 30 credits charged only on a match, with no seats to license.

The Prospeo reveals, priced per lookup

Prospeo's credits are attached to seats and reset at the end of every cycle. These are the same jobs as single API calls on one shared balance, billed on the result.

1Lookup vs Prospeo: the same criteria, side by side

Both products measured on identical criteria, with Prospeo’s numbers taken from its own published pricing.

Prospeo · Do credits expire?
Yes, on every plan and every add-on, with no rollover in any direction. Prospeo's help centre: "Unused credits do not roll over - they expire at the end of each billing cycle." Yearly plans get all 12 months of credits upfront and the unused balance dies at the annual renewal. Add-on credits also expire at the end of the billing cycle, and Prospeo's own advice is to wait until after a renewal before buying one. Switching yearly to monthly carries the remaining balance over but shortens its life to the next monthly renewal, and switching billing period in either direction destroys add-on credits immediately

Pricing model

Monthly plans with universal credits; core phone, email and IP lookups cost 1 credit, enrichment and intelligence products cost more

Per-seat subscription with one shared credit pool.

There is no separate verification credit and no standalone verification product. Prospeo's own metering: 1 credit = 1 verified email revealed, 10 credits = 1 verified mobile (the email comes free with the mobile), 1 credit = 1 company enriched, 1 credit = 1 Search API request returning up to 25 rows carrying no contact data. Credits are charged only when a valid result comes back: no result, no charge, and re-enriching the same record within 90 days is free across the whole team. Four plans, monthly or yearly, with yearly billed once upfront under a "Save 25% billed yearly" toggle and all 12 months of credits released on the purchase date. Monthly: Free $0 for 100 credits, Starter $49 for 2,000, Growth $99 for 5,000, Pro $249 for 15,000, all per user per month. Yearly: Starter $441 for 24,000 credits, Growth $888 for 60,000, Pro $2,241 for 180,000. Prospeo's own pricing API prints the per-credit rates: $0.0245, $0.0198 and $0.0166 monthly, falling to $0.01837, $0.0148 and $0.01245 yearly. On top of a paid plan sits a recurring Credit Add-on ladder, 16 monthly tiers from 500 credits at $10 to 350,000 at $3,500, and 17 yearly tiers from 1,000 at $20 to 500,000 at $4,500. Plan credits are per seat and pool across the team; add-on credits are one shared pool that does not grow when seats are added. Nothing rolls over on any plan or add-on.

Prospeo’s tier bars all start at $0 on one linear scale, so among them a longer bar always means a higher published price. 1Lookup is drawn differently: it is a range band covering its cheapest to its dearest plan, so read where it sits on the scale, not how long it is. Prospeo’s tiers and 1Lookup’s plans cover different volumes, use different pricing models, and do not bill for the same unit of work, so this is not a like-for-like race: check the rate at the volume you actually run. Prospeo figures verified August 2026 against prospeo.io; 1Lookup figures come from its live rate card.

Prospeo is priced per seat, with credits that expire at the end of every cycle and a mobile number costing many times an email from the same pool; 1Lookup is priced per lookup on one shared balance with no seat count in the bill. Compare a month of your real reveals against the number of seats you would have to license to run them.

The same month, priced both ways

Pick one of Prospeo’s own published volumes. Their figure is their published price at that tier; ours is the cheapest plan on our rate card that covers it. Nothing here is interpolated.

15,000

1Lookup

$99/mo

The Starter plan, 20,000 credits a month at $4.95 per 1,000. Using 15,000 of them is 75% of the plan, so $6.60 per 1,000 effective.

Prospeo

$249

Their published price for “15,000 credits/month (Pro, 1 seat, monthly billing)”, at $16.60 per 1,000.

At 15,000 a month, 1Lookup is $150 cheaper, and the credits also cover phone, email and IP rather than one of them.

Prospeo rates as published on prospeo.io, verified August 2026. Pricing models differ (a monthly plan is not a credit pack), so a like-for-like month depends on your real mix of lookups. Check their pricing page

Before you sign: Prospeo and 1Lookup on the operational terms

The terms that decide what a year actually costs, rather than what the first month does. A blank means we could not verify it on either product’s published pages, not that the answer is nothing.

Term1LookupProspeo
Minimum commitment

None. Monthly plans with no contract and no minimum volume; cancel any time

None on monthly.

Monthly plans auto-renew and can be cancelled in the dashboard at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period, reverting the account to Free. Yearly plans are charged in full upfront for 12 months. The terms state prepaid amounts are non-refundable and that "No refunds or credits are provided for partial months, unused credits, downgrades, or early termination, except where required by law."

Cost per extra seat

Priced per user.

Each seat costs the full plan price and contributes its own credit allocation to a shared team pool, so three Pro seats are three times $249/month for 45,000 shared credits. Seats added mid-cycle are prorated on both cost and credits and do not reset the billing period; removing a seat destroys its credits immediately. All seats must be on the same plan, and a seat cannot be added without its credits. Add-on credits are a single shared pool and do not increase with seat count.

Going over your quota

No overage rate and no automatic billing past the allowance: run out and you cannot reveal or export new contacts until the cycle resets.

The published routes to more credits are upgrading the plan or buying a recurring Credit Add-on, which is granted immediately, renews with the billing cycle, and comes in one active tier at a time. Paid plans with a card on file can enable "Auto-upgrade addon", which moves the add-on to the next tier and charges immediately once the balance drops below 10% of the current add-on limit.

API access

Included on every plan and during the free trial; there is no tier that unlocks it

REST API with an X-KEY header and JSON over HTTPS.

Endpoints: enrich-person, enrich-company, bulk-enrich-person and bulk-enrich-company (up to 50 records a call), search-person, search-company, search-suggestions and account-information, plus a hosted MCP server for Claude and other MCP clients. An only_verified_email flag controls when a credit is spent. The pricing page's plan-comparison table marks the public API as included on Starter, Growth and Pro and not included on Free; the help centre contradicts this and publishes Free rate limits. No webhook or callback endpoint appears anywhere in the docs.

Rate limit

1,000 requests per minute on standard accounts, with higher limits available on request

Published per plan and split into two independently tracked buckets, as requests per second, per minute and per day.

Enrich endpoints: Starter 5/300/2,000, Growth 5/300/5,000, Pro 30/1,800/500,000. Search endpoints: Starter 1/30/1,000, Growth 2/60/4,000, Pro 5/180/250,000. The help centre additionally lists Free at 1/20/50 for both buckets. Bulk endpoints count one request per submitted record against the limit. Responses carry remaining-day, remaining-minute, reset-seconds and total-limit headers, and a 429 once exceeded.

Compliance

GDPR and CCPA claimed with a standard DPA incorporated by reference into the terms, and named GDPR Article 27 representatives for the EU (Paris) and the UK (London).

No Data Protection Officer has been appointed, stated plainly in the privacy policy on Article 37 grounds. Hosting is AWS us-east-1; EU and UK transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses plus the UK Addendum, EU-to-Canada on the PIPEDA adequacy decision, and the terms cite participation in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Security measures named are encryption in transit and at rest, role-based least-privilege access, SSO and MFA where supported, and annual third-party penetration testing. No SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA claim appears on any Prospeo page.

Support

Starter: Email Support; Growth: Priority Email & Chat Support; Professional: Chat + Live Meeting; Enterprise: Dedicated CSM

Email and chat on all paid plans, plus a public help centre.

"Priority support" from the Growth tier; the Pro sales card adds a dedicated account manager with priority support.

Prospeo fine print worth reading twice

Published terms that change what Prospeo costs or what you can do with it. Each one links to the Prospeo page it was read on, because a claim about somebody else’s contract should be checkable in one click.

  • Credits never roll over on any plan: "Unused credits do not roll over - they expire at the end of each billing cycle." A yearly plan's 12 months of credits are released upfront and the unused balance expires at the annual renewal.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • Switching from yearly to monthly shortens the life of every carried-over credit to the next monthly renewal instead of the original annual date, and switching billing period in either direction destroys all add-on credits immediately.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • Add-on credits also expire at the end of the billing cycle, only one add-on tier can be active at a time, and Prospeo's own guidance is to wait until after a renewal before buying one to avoid wasting credits.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • Prepaid amounts are non-refundable: "No refunds or credits are provided for partial months, unused credits, downgrades, or early termination, except where required by law", and cancellation only takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • Price and credits are per user, not per account. Removing a seat destroys that seat's credits immediately, and all seats must sit on the same plan tier.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • Search costs credits over the API even though browsing in the dashboard is free: 1 credit per search request that returns at least one result, for up to 25 rows carrying no contact data.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • Uploading your own CSV or CRM data grants Prospeo a licence to ingest it into their own B2B dataset, and they may continue storing and processing that professional contact data after your account is closed.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • The output licence bars reselling or redistributing results, using them to build a competing database or model, caching beyond what the plan permits, and making any "safe-to-call", "safe-to-email", accuracy or eligibility claim to third parties based on Prospeo data.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • Their Data Enrichment API page markets "99.99% uptime", while the terms disclaim it: Prospeo does "not promise outcomes, accuracy, coverage, or uninterrupted service." No contractual SLA is published.

    Read it on Prospeo’s site
  • Prospeo's own two published sources disagree on whether the Free plan gets API access: the pricing page's plan-comparison table marks the public API as not included on Free, while the help centre lists Free API rate limits of 1/second, 20/minute and 50/day.

Prospeo logoWhere Prospeo wins

  • It finds contacts rather than checking ones you already hold: search 41 filters across people and companies, then reveal the email. A per-lookup validation API cannot build a list from filters at all
  • Metering is genuinely buyer-friendly and stated on their own pages: no credit is charged unless a valid result is returned, a search that returns nothing is free, browsing and filtering are free, and re-enriching the same record within 90 days is free across the whole team
  • Verified mobile numbers are a first-class, self-serve product at a published price of 10 credits each, which most email-validation APIs do not sell at all
  • Fully self-serve with no sales call anywhere on the curve: four published plan prices, a 16-step add-on ladder, per-plan API rate limits published in two places, an optional auto-top-up toggle, and instant seat changes prorated to the cycle
  • Wide distribution around the data: a Chrome extension, an MCP server for Claude and other MCP clients, CSV enrichment, bulk endpoints taking 50 records a call, a Google Sheets add-on, and named push integrations for HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho, Close, monday, Outreach, Salesloft, Lemlist, Smartlead, Instantly, Reply.io, Woodpecker, Clay, Zapier, Make and n8n
  • A documented, self-service opt-out with permanent suppression, plus named GDPR Article 27 representatives in the EU and the UK, which is more privacy plumbing than most finders publish

1Lookup logoWhere 1Lookup wins

  • No seats: one API key and one balance, with the bill following lookups rather than headcount or who is on the team this month
  • Success billing with one visible price per job: 30 credits when a verified work email comes back from a profile URL, nothing when it does not
  • Checking data you already hold is a product, not a by-product: email deliverability, phone line type, carrier and HLR status, and IP risk are their own endpoints
  • One balance across finding, enriching and validating, with the same products available as bulk CSV jobs when the list is the job

Who this is for

A quick, honest read on which tool fits your use case.

Choose 1Lookup if: you already know who you are looking up and want one call per profile URL, instead of paying per seat for a searchable database you then have to filter.

Consider Prospeo instead if: building the list is the job: you need to filter people and companies across dozens of criteria, and to buy verified mobile numbers from the same credit pool.

Frequently asked questions

What is Prospeo used for?

Building a prospect list and then working it. You filter people and companies across dozens of criteria, reveal verified emails or mobile numbers with credits, and push the results out through a Chrome extension, CSV enrichment, an MCP server, a Google Sheets add-on or one of the named CRM and sequencer integrations. Browsing and filtering cost nothing; the credit is spent at the reveal.

How does Prospeo pricing work?

Per seat, with one credit pool shared across the team. Every seat costs the full plan price and contributes its own credit allocation, all seats have to sit on the same tier, and removing a seat destroys that seat's credits immediately. A mobile number costs many times what an email costs from the same pool, and nothing rolls over anywhere: monthly, yearly and add-on credits all expire at the end of the cycle, and a yearly plan's unused balance dies at the annual renewal. Every published plan price, add-on rung and per-credit rate is in the verified pricing table on this page.

Can Prospeo verify an email address I already have?

No, and it is the clearest gap in the product. There is no standalone verification endpoint, no phone validation, no line type or HLR data and no IP product. Verification only ever arrives attached to a find, on data Prospeo sourced itself. If you need a verdict on a list you already own, that is a second vendor. 1Lookup's Email Validation is 1 credit per check on the same balance as the finding products.

Does Prospeo have an API?

Yes: a REST API with enrich, bulk enrich, search and account endpoints, plus a hosted MCP server. Two things to check against your workload. Throughput below the top tier is thin, published per plan as requests per second, per minute and per day, and search over the API is metered, so a search request that returns rows costs a credit even though the same browsing is free in the dashboard. Prospeo's own pricing page and help centre also disagree on whether the free plan gets API access at all.

What is the best Prospeo alternative?

If the filters are the point, the closest swaps are other search-and-reveal platforms. If you already know who you are looking up, a per-lookup API is a simpler purchase: 1Lookup's LinkedIn Email Finder returns a verified work email from a public profile URL for 30 credits, charged only on a match, with no seats to license and no credits that expire at the end of a cycle you did not fill.

Where does Prospeo beat 1Lookup?

Prospeo builds the list; 1Lookup does not. Filtering people and companies across dozens of criteria, then revealing only the rows you want, is something a per-lookup API cannot do at all. Their metering is honest too: no result means no charge, browsing and filtering are free, and re-enriching the same record within 90 days is free across the whole team. They also sell verified mobile numbers self-serve, publish a documented opt-out with named GDPR Article 27 representatives, and ship an extension and an MCP server. 1Lookup wins when you already know the target, and when you also have to check data you already hold.

Is Prospeo worth it in 2026?

For a small team doing self-serve prospecting, yes: four published plan prices, an add-on ladder, published rate limits and no sales call anywhere on the curve make it easy to buy and easy to leave. Model the seat maths and the expiry before you commit, since credits are per seat and nothing rolls over, and note that the terms disclaim accuracy and uptime while the API page markets a high uptime figure. Teams that only need lookups, or that also need validation of data they already hold, are usually better served paying per lookup.
