How to see a Bluesky profile without an account

Bluesky is the open social network that grew out of Twitter's decentralisation project, and it is unusually open about profiles: a public account's page can be read on bsky.app without signing in, and its numbers are published exactly, not rounded. What people looking for a Bluesky viewer usually want is those numbers in one place, from a browser tab, without an account and without knowing the handle's exact form. Type a handle into the box above and you get the profile picture, display name, bio, follower count, following count and post count.

Handles on Bluesky are domain names, which is the part that trips people up. A new account gets a handle like name.bsky.social, and anyone who owns a domain can use it as their handle instead, which is how The New York Times posts as @nytimes.com and Bluesky itself as @bsky.app. That is Bluesky's original form of verification: a handle that is a real organisation's domain can only have been set by whoever controls that domain. Type the whole handle, domain and all, or paste the profile link and we pull it out.

The counts come back exact. When we looked up @nytimes.com on 17 September 2026, the lookup returned 1,347,240 followers, 123 accounts followed and 42,974 posts, figures Bluesky publishes to the digit. Read them together: followers against following shows how the account grew, and the post count shows whether it is a working account or a placeholder reserved by a brand that never posts.

What this tool will not do: it does not show posts, replies, likes or media, it does not list who follows an account, and it does not report the blue check that Bluesky began issuing in April 2025, because the lookup behind it does not return that yet. It also cannot read an account whose owner turned on Bluesky's setting that asks visitors to sign in before viewing the profile; such an account returns not found, and nothing outside Bluesky changes that.

How to check a Bluesky profile in three steps

Copy the handle

On Bluesky the handle is a domain name, shown under the display name with an @ in front: @nytimes.com, @name.bsky.social. Type it with or without the @, or paste the profile link (bsky.app/profile/nytimes.com) and we pull the handle out of it. The display name is not unique and will not work.

We read the public profile

The lookup fetches the account's public profile, the one anybody can open on bsky.app without logging in, and reads the numbers off it. Nothing is estimated, and no Bluesky account of yours is involved at any point.

Read the counts together

Followers against following shows how the account grew, the post count shows whether it is active, and a domain handle shows who controls it. Create a free account when you also want a whole list of handles checked at once.

Verification on Bluesky is layered, as Bluesky described it when it introduced blue checks on 21 April 2025. This viewer shows the first layer, the handle, and does not yet report the other two.

No Bluesky account, no login

There is nothing to install and nothing to connect. The lookup never signs in to Bluesky as you, so you do not need an account and nothing you look up is attached to one.

Exact counts, to the digit

Bluesky publishes exact figures and so does this viewer: 1,347,240 followers, not 1.3M. Exact numbers are the only way to compare two accounts of similar size or to see one move by a few hundred since last week.

Domain handles, understood

A Bluesky handle can be any domain, and the viewer takes it whole, whether you type nytimes.com, paste bsky.app/profile/nytimes.com or add the @. The handle in the result is the domain the account's owner controls, which is Bluesky's original proof of identity.

Honest about what it does not report

Bluesky's blue check is not returned by the lookup behind this tool yet, so the result leaves the row off rather than guessing. An account that asks visitors to sign in returns not found, and that setting is respected.

Confirming an organisation's account

A handle that is the organisation's own domain, such as @nytimes.com, could only have been set by whoever controls that domain. Look it up: a domain handle with a large following is the real account, and a name.bsky.social copy usually has a fraction of the followers.

Screening Bluesky handles in applications

Press lists and creator programs have started asking for a Bluesky handle. One lookup shows whether it exists, how big it is and how active it is, before anyone approves the application.

Can I see the profile picture and bio?

Yes. The result shows the profile picture, the bio and the website link as the public profile shows them, next to the counts. The picture is loaded from Bluesky's own servers, so it is the current one, and it opens full size in a new tab.

Can I view a Bluesky profile without an account?

Yes, for public accounts. Enter the handle here and you get the profile picture, display name, bio, follower count, following count and post count. You do not need a Bluesky account or a 1Lookup account to run a lookup. Bluesky also lets visitors read public profiles on bsky.app without signing in.

What is a Bluesky handle?

A domain name that identifies the account: name.bsky.social by default, or a domain the owner controls, such as nytimes.com. It is shown under the display name with an @ in front. Type the whole domain into the box, or paste the profile link and we pull it out.

Why did a handle return nothing?

Usually because the handle changed or was typed without its domain part: nytimes is not a handle, nytimes.com is. Bluesky also lets an account require visitors to sign in before viewing its profile, and such an account returns not found here. A deleted or suspended account has no public profile left to read.

Does it show whether a Bluesky account has a blue check?

Not yet. Bluesky started issuing blue checks on 21 April 2025, to accounts it confirmed itself and through trusted verifiers such as news organisations, and the lookup behind this tool does not return that mark. The handle is still shown, and a handle that is an organisation's own domain is Bluesky's older form of verification.

Will someone know I viewed their Bluesky profile?

No. Bluesky does not tell anyone who viewed their profile, and this viewer never signs in to Bluesky as you, so there is no view of yours to record. Nothing is sent to the account and no follow, like or notification is created.

Can I read someone's posts here?

No. This tool reads the profile's numbers, not its posts, replies, likes or media. A public account's posts can be read on bsky.app itself, signed in or not.

Are the counts exact?

Yes. Bluesky publishes exact follower, following and post counts, and that is what comes back: 1,347,240 rather than 1.3M.

How fresh are the numbers?

A handle nobody has checked here in the past seven days is read live. If it was looked up in the last seven days, you get that earlier read instead, so a number can be up to a week old.

How many Bluesky profiles can I check for free?

Five a day from one IP address on this tool, with a short pause between lookups, and 15 a day across all the free tools on the site. The free tools also share a daily budget, so on a busy day a lookup can be refused until midnight UTC. A free 1Lookup account gives you 1,000 lookups on a 7-day trial and CSV upload for whole lists.
