A free trial widens the comparison.

Start a free 1Lookup trial to compare five keywords in any country over any range from the past day to five years, or to run whole lists of comparisons from a CSV upload or the API.

Need this at scale? Search Trends API

Compare up to five keywords in any country over any range from the past day to five years, at 2 credits per comparison.

A trend line shows whether interest in a keyword is growing, fading or only seasonal.

Enter one to three keywords, separated by commas, and the tool draws how interest in each one changed week by week over the past 12 months. Scores run from 0 to 100, where 100 is the busiest moment of the whole comparison, so a score of 50 means half as busy, not 50 searches.

Keywords in the same comparison share one scale, so you can see which one draws the most interest and where the lines cross. Scores from separate comparisons are not on the same scale. For each keyword you see the average, the peak with its date, and a direction of rising, falling or steady. A keyword is rising or falling when the last third of the period averages at least 10 percent more or less than the first third.

A comparison takes 4 to 10 seconds, and one that someone ran in the last 12 hours is shown again to keep the tool free for everyone. A keyword with too little interest returns no chart, and the tool says so. A free trial compares five keywords in any country and any range from the past day to five years.

Interest over time is one signal, and rankings and traffic are two more.

To see where a site ranks for a keyword that is rising, use the free keyword rank checker. To see how many visits a site gets, use the free website traffic checker.

A trends comparison returns these fields, and each one answers a different question.

This is an invented result for two made-up keywords, laid out the way a real one comes back. The chart and the numbers are free on this page, and a free trial opens the rest.

  1. Five keywords at onceUp to five
  2. Any country and rangePast day to five years
  1. electric bike

The first keyword. Average is its typical score across the year, peak is its busiest week with the date, and the direction compares the last third of the year with the first third.

  2. scooter

The second keyword on the same scale, so its score is directly comparable with the first.

  3. Five keywords at once

Compare more keywords on one chart. This page compares up to three.

  4. Any country and range

Choose one of 29 countries and a range from the past day to the past five years.

Comparing keywords takes three steps and no signup.

1

Enter up to three keywords

Separate them with commas. Each can be up to ten words.

2

We read the search interest

The weekly interest for the past 12 months, worldwide, is read and put on one scale from 0 to 100.

3

Read the chart and the numbers

You see one line per keyword, and for each its average, its peak with the date and its direction.

One comparison reads weekly search interest and puts every keyword on the same scale.

This is the path a single comparison takes. It is a read of public search interest, and nothing is sent to anyone.

What one trends comparison does

The search trends API returns the same readings as JSON from one request.

Send up to five keywords to the endpoint with your API key, and add a country and a range if you need them. A comparison that returns readings costs 2 credits, and a comparison with no data costs 0. Every reading is in insights.search_trends_result.series.

The direction is worked out for you.

Each keyword is marked rising, falling or steady, with the change in percent.

The peak comes with its date.

You see when each keyword was busiest, which is how you spot a seasonal keyword.

The chart reads at a glance.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 0 to 100 score mean?

It is relative. 100 is the busiest moment of the whole comparison, so a score of 50 means half as busy, not 50 searches. Keywords in the same comparison share one scale, and scores from separate comparisons do not.

Is this search trends checker free?

Yes, with no signup. Each visitor gets a few comparisons a day. A free trial compares five keywords in any country over any range, and runs lists of comparisons.

How does it decide that a keyword is rising or falling?

It compares the average score over the first third of the period with the average over the last third. A rise of 10 percent or more is rising, a fall of 10 percent or more is falling, and anything in between is steady.

Why is there no chart for my keyword?

Very rare keywords have too little interest to chart. Try more common wording, or fewer keywords.

Which countries and ranges are covered?

This page compares worldwide interest over the past 12 months. A free trial adds 29 countries and ranges from the past day to the past five years.

Is it the same as Google Trends?

It answers the same question as Google Trends, how interest in a search term rises and falls over time, from a free tool with no Google account that you can also call from code.

Can I run a list of comparisons at once?

Yes, in a free trial. Upload a CSV with a keywords column, putting one comparison on each row, or call the Search Trends API. Each comparison with data costs 2 credits.
